Our Story
Initially we were looking for our dream family home with a wooded natural setting and couldn’t believe we found something so close to downtown. We know that this place is amazing because we lived there and it was a dream. You wake up to the sunrise coming in your bedroom window and then sit out on a patio and have coffee while listening to the birds. We first fixed up the little guest cottage and eventually put it on Airbnb. EVERYONE loved staying there and we loved hosting. So we moved out of our personal residence because our family got too big and we wanted to host more people. We renovated and created Mount Nouveau, with the goal of becoming a top rental in Chattanooga.
About Us
We are Joel and Katie Knutson and we are local Chattanooga residents. We had a dream to live in a spectacular mountain setting surrounded by everything we love. Once we found our first property we moved heaven and earth to get it. We moved in and that started the journey that became MTN Modern Vacation. Our vision is to continue finding dream properties that are unique, stylish, and in amazing locations for the ultimate guest experience.
The first vacation rental for us was a blue guest house on our property tucked behind a giant boulder. Our designer named it Blue Ivy. It was so much fun creating a wooded fantasy cottage and hosting guests that we wanted to do more.
After years of searching, we decided to give up something precious to us, our family home, and that became a property we now call Mount Nouveau. It’s like nothing you have seen anywhere. Mount Nouveau’s location, plus the incredible interior design, landed it on Airbnb’s official Instagram page. The design and location can’t be beat: a charming home with a touch of rich design, surrounded by trees, boulders, and stone walls.
Our love of beautiful places and spaces is something we want to share with guests. In our role as experience curators, we recommend adventures, attractions, and restaurants we think our guests will enjoy. We make our guest’s satisfaction our top priority by offering comfort, safety, and the amenities needed to thoroughly enjoy a stay with us. Our guests’ memories are so important to us and we feel that each and every one of them deserve a spectacular vacation. We will do everything we can to make that happen.
